This post will be different than my usual post. Let's just say that it has to do with quackery of a different kind than I usually write about here. It's about a public health disaster that was entirely preventable and had nothing to do with vaccines. It has to do with government malpractice on an epic scale, right here in my very own state. It's a story that's huge here in Michigan but doesn't seem to be penetrating the national news very much, at least not yet. ....

Would you let the city go bankrupt? would you have sought federal help? how would you have handled detroit? well, i certainly, you know, would have been a much stronger partner with the city of detroit and our core cities. many promises have been broken to the city of detroit. do you agree with the power? this current law provides carte blanche authority. and i ll give an example. they have with this governor s approval put cuts to retiree pensions of detroit police and firefighters, public service workers so you would not have put emergency financial manager into detroit. you would have done it totally different. because that is fundamentally what is unfolding. i mean, we are detroit now has a very capable new mayor, new city council. they need to be given the keys to run the city of detroit. and you don t build a strong economy by cutting retiree pensions. all right. ....
