Minister Brophy visits New York to announce over $1 million in ESP funding for Irish Organisations

The Minister of State for Overseas Development Aid and Diaspora, Colm Brophy, T.D. is in New York today, 20 October, for a series of engagements at the United Nations Security Council, to meet Irish Community Organisations and to announce funding of more than $1 million from the Emigrant Support Programme to Irish Organisations in New York, the greater Tri-State Area and Pennsylvania.

The Shannon Gaels GAA Club in New York is one step closer to building its field of dreams – a children’s playing field in Frank Golden Park in College Point, New York. In January, Minister for the Diaspora Jimmy Deenihan, TD announced that the Irish government will give €250,000 to develop the site. The GAA has also received €45,000 in funding under the Emigrant Support Programme for the Global Games Development Fund which supports GAA projects abroad. A total of 22 projects around the world from Montreal to Myanmar were supported during 2014 under the program. Deenihan said he was ...
