NYC's Gaelic Park redevelopment gets €500k grant

Gaelic Park in the Bronx, New York will receive a grant of €500,000 towards its redevelopment, Ireland's Tánaiste Micheál Martin TD announced while in New York City on Wednesday, March 15. The grant will enable the redevelopment project to meet its projected completion date of March 2024.

Shannon Gaels: Field of Dreams | Irish America


The Shannon Gaels GAA Club in New York is one step closer to building its field of dreams – a children’s playing field in Frank Golden Park in College Point, New York.
In January, Minister for the Diaspora Jimmy Deenihan, TD announced that the Irish government will give €250,000 to develop the site. The GAA has also received €45,000 in funding under the Emigrant Support Programme for the Global Games Development Fund which supports GAA projects abroad. A total of 22 projects around the world from Montreal to Myanmar were supported during 2014 under the program.
Deenihan said he was “delighted to announce a contribution towards the redevelopment of the facilities for the Shannon Gaels, which is one of the fastest growing GAA clubs in the United States.
