The Minot Chamber Chorale will present “We Will Shine,” a virtual choral cantata, on Sunday, May 2, at 3 p.m. It will be shared at: https://www.facebook.com/minotchamberchorale. “We Will Shine” is a short 10-minute cantata written specifically for the Minot Chamber Chorale “to memorialize a year of pandemic which has rendered us unable to sing together and in-person.” Detroit-based tenor, Edward Graves, is featured in the cantata. The music was written by Emerson Eads, artistic director of the Minot Chamber Chorale, for the combined forces of the Minot Chamber Chorale, the Minot State University Concert Choir, and the Western Plains Youth Ensemble. Eads, an assistant professor of music at Minot State University, also is director of the Western Plains Youth Ensemble. ....

The performance, scheduled for May 2 at 3 p.m., will also feature the Minot State University Choirs, Western Plains Children’s Choir, members of the Minot Symphony Orchestra along with other Minot premiere vocal ensembles. Emerson Eads, director of choral activities at Minot State University, artistic director of the Minot Chamber Chorale and director of the Western Plains Youth Ensemble, and his brother, published poet Eran Eads of Alexandria, Va., have fashioned a short cantata inspired by the words of President John F. Kennedy: “We are not here to curse the darkness, but to light a candle that can guide us through the darkness to a safe and sure future.” ....
