A pair of gifted singer/songwriters who, although unrelated, share a love of folk, indie, and Americana as well as the same surname, Pieta Brown and Chastity Brown co-headline a May 18 concert event at Maquoketa's Codfish Hollow Barn, the former performing alongside her ensemble The Taken, and the latter in support of her 2022 album Sing to the Walls.

Next month, Grimes, Bon Iver, The 1975, and other musicians will try their hands at art in the name of raising awareness around the climate crisis. Each act will lend their vision to a separate immersive multimedia experience for a pop-up exhibition opening September 9 in Brooklyn. “Undercurrent,” as the event is called, is the debut outing of a new event company of the same name.
Each of the event’s 11 installations will be developed in collaboration with one of three environmentally-focused nonprofits: Kiss the Ground, Ocean Conservancy, and Global Forest Generation.
All I want to do is devour music.
“I value my solitude, especially when writing music, the process is a vulnerable thing for me”, says
Leon Vynehall from his Tottenham studio. Characterised by the British producer as “sauna-like”, he swivels around the room in his office chair to show it off, revealing keyboards and synths stacked up against the wall, a suit jacket hung up casually on the wall and a bookcase filled with resources of any kind. He’s operated there since last October after moving from Shoreditch, and it seems to have turned from a studio into an obsessive workspace and part living space. It was the room that saw him finish up his second full-length album, Rare, Forever , which sees the light of day soon on Ninja Tune.
