Memorial Day events planned in southeast Iowa, west-central Illinois Ceremonies throughout area honor fallen comrades, loved ones. The Burlington Area Veterans Council will sponsor a Memorial Day ceremony Monday. The service at 10 a.m. at Burlington's Memorial Auditorium will honor the nation's fallen heroes and recognize veterans and active-duty military. According to Des Moines County Area Veterans Council member Curt Daughters, about 100-150 people usually attend the ceremony.
