Former CIA director and veteran journalist show why Trump and MAGA were needed

The idea that today's Republicans are more violent and extreme than any ideology in the past 50 years is so patently absurd and ridiculous that it does not warrant a response. But I am going to give one anyway.

Meet Congressman Mo Brooks

Congressman Mo Brooks, R-AL, used with permission.
As many of my readers know, I am a very proud “Alabaman by Choice.” My journey from being an itinerate Army Officer, moving from one military installation to another over 37 years, was finally brought to a halt by my retirement from the Green Machine back in 2013. How I ended up in Alabama is a story in and of itself, which you can read about in this little piece called
Sweet Home Alabama. And…YES, it’s all true…mostly.
In short, I really like my adopted state. The people are great, the weather is nice…well, except for July and August. Even our politicians tend to be fairly decent…now that we’ve run off most of the Democrats that dominated the place during the KKK and Jim Crow eras. That brings us to the subject of this epistle.

GOP Senators Believe Trump Won't Get Nomination In 2024 Even If Acquitted

Some Republican senators are weighing in on former President Donald Trump’s prospects for running for office again in 2024 and they seem to believe the impeachment proceedings have all but torpedoed his chances of securing the GOP nomination. As the Democrats do their best to tie Trump’s speech to the U.S. Capitol Riots on Jan. 6, the conservative movement is experiencing an identity crisis that will determine the future direction of the American right.
The GOP senators who are predicting that Trump won’t be able to secure the nomination in 2024 seem to be hoping that the party will go back to some iteration of the pre-Trump era.

Marble Halls & Silver Screens With Sarah Lee Ep. 72: The 'Establishment Is Judging You, Synchronic, And Politics As Entertainment' Edition

There’s a battle brewing for the soul of the GOP between the old guard already making their way back up the steps of the pulpit to preach about redemption and forgiveness for Donald Trump, and those conservatives that had been enjoying the tax cuts and job opportunities afforded by that same callous man.
They would disagree no doubt, but I don’t believe the established old order is going to reascend the throne as easily as they seem to believe.
Because for years conservatives read the words of these pundits and politicians and believed them when they were told conservative principles were worth fighting for; that, in fact, in the nation’s esteemed past, many had given the last full measure of devotion to preserve them and the principles undergirding out foundation.

Liz Cheney's Inevitable End Gives A Glimpse Into The Future Of The Republican Party

Members of the Wyoming state Republican Party have indicated that Rep. Liz Cheney’s vote to impeach President Donald Trump has jeopardized her political future. Many doubt that she will serve another term because of her decision to support the Democrats’ second impeachment attempt. It seems her desire to show how brave she is by voting to impeach a president after he has already left office was too much to resist.
The
Washington Examiner noted, “doubts quickly surfaced about her viability in the 2022 GOP primary after she announced her support of impeachment and then led nine other House Republicans on Wednesday in voting to impeach Mr. Trump for inciting the deadly Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.”

this is our war. [ applause ] and you all didn't start it. the establishment started it. >> so how do you see this fight between bannon and the establishment gop playing out? >> uh, i don't see any ceasefire. i think this is going to be a fire fight and burn the party down to the foundation. you know, if roy moore is the opening bid for the bannon candidates, it's not a good sign. reminds me a lot of todd aiken and sharon angle who viewers may remember were similar candidates, fringe candidates that were similarly supported in a fashion like this and then lost badly in the general election. so, i think we have a situation in alabama now where something may happen or is likely to happen that nobody thought possible which is a democrat may win the senate seat. >> can you imagine that? going from red to blue just like

years against the swamp only to bring the swamp to the white house. joining me now daniel sherman at new york magazine. you got news today about so christie's basically nowhere to be found. news that giuliani is out. christie and giuliani along with flynn publicly probably the three people you most associate. and how much of that is a sign that the reince faction is beating the bannon faction? >> what's really interesting is you see two fundamental world views. you have establishment gop and steve bannon. the fact that rex tillerson is a front runner for secretary of state is interesting. on one hand he's exxonmobil ceo, very much of a creature of the reince priebus republican business world but he's an outsider, never served in the government. in that choice you might see a candidate who can bring both things to the table. >> here's what i think is
