New York adults over the age of 21 can now possess and use marijuana even in public under a legalisation bill signed today by Governor Andrew Cuomo, though legal sales of recreational-use cannabis won t start for an estimated 18 months until regulations are set.
Passed after several years of stalled efforts, the measure makes New York the 16th US state to legalise adult use of the drug, though South Dakota s measure is in legal limbo. ....

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said taxpayers in his state are forking out over $850 million each year to pay for various costs associated with the housing and care of immigrants who enter Texas illegally.
Paxton’s office had re-released the figures, which was first presented to a federal court in January, in an attempt to highlight the gravity of the burgeoning crisis at the U.S. southern border. The significant surge of illegal border crossings in recent weeks, particularly by unaccompanied minors, has overwhelmed border patrol facilities and resources. Although the Biden administration is sending most single adults and some families back, unaccompanied minors are being accepted into the country. ....

An exciting new commercial development in Omokoroa, known as The Village, is estimated to start construction before the end of the year.
The Village is being developed by Foster Develop Ltd on land on the corner of Tralee Street and Hamurana Road next to FreshChoice supermarket.
It will comprise a mixture of retail, office, health, fitness, food and beverage tenants along with parking.
Foster Develop are just as excited as the local community to have the opportunity to develop a much-needed town centre for Omokoroa and look forward to delivering The Village, says development manager Andrew Vincent. ....
