The University of Maine Institute of Medicine has announced its first spring seminar series, with Zoom events scheduled 3–4 p.m. every Friday from Feb. 12–March 5. All events are free, but registration is required.  The series kicks off Feb. 12 with “The Social and Ethical Implications of Precision Medicine,” presented by sociologist Katherine Weatherford Darling, also an assistant professor of sociology with the University of Maine at Augusta. Climate justice is an important framework to address the disproportionate risks of sea-level rise, flooding and pollution to ensure a just and healthy society. Since the contribution to climate change by the afflicted communities is relatively low, their suffering raises ethical and moral considerations.
