The Commission has requested Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Greece, Spain, Finland, France, Croatia, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Latvia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Sweden, Slovenia and Slovakiato communicate information about how the rules included in the Directive on Copyright in the Digital Single Market (Directive 2019/790/EU) are being enacted into their national law. IT Professionalism online conference


The ‘IT Professionalism Conference 2021’ was held during three half-day online sessions from April 20 to 22 by the eSkills Malta Foundation, in collaboration and partnership with the Irish Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition and IT Professionalism Europe, which work closely with key public actors from the European Commission and the European Parliament.
To address current and new challenges, one of the EU targets is to have 20 million IT professionals working by 2030 by revitalising current initiatives for professionalising the European IT workforce and calling on all stakeholders to increase their efforts and cooperation.
During the conference, participants gathered perspectives from Europe and other continents to identify the steps necessary to help meet the new EU target goals, including political initiatives, developing technologies and the outlook for young IT professionals. ....

Schmit made the following statement:
Tomorrow, as we mark International Workers Day, we take pause to think about the millions of people who have seen their lives and livelihoods disrupted by the COVID-19 crisis.
So far, governments have managed to preserve jobs and contain a surge in unemployment. Short-time work schemes, supported through the EU s SURE instrument, have kept people in jobs and preserved families incomes. Even so, many workers, and especially the young generation, have seen their career prospects put at risk: some of them for the second time over the span of a decade, affected also by the financial crisis ten years ago. ....
