LEWISTON — Before the upcoming solar eclipse darkens Lewiston, some ghosts of its past will share stories that revolve around the moon.
On April 8, there will be a total solar eclipse - one of the most spectacular events in nature - and Lewiston is in the direct path of totality. To commemorate this event, the Opera Hall Players, who formerly presented the Marble Orchard Ghost Walks, have been rehearsing to a brand-new show:
LEWISTON — After planning to move the Spirit of Victory statue within the Village of Lewiston, the board of trustees has reversed its plans on the move.
As part of the National Federation of Just Communities national conference in Buffalo this week, members on Wednesday took a daytrip to Lewiston. Their tour bus stopped at the Freedom Crossing Monument on Water Street, and they were greeted by Sally and Josiah Tryon (aka Eva Nicklas and Tim Henderson). The two Lewiston legends recounted tales of first coming to the village, efforts to lead people to freedom, and the story behind Susan Geissler's famed bronze statue.
