It appears rumours about the impending demolition of a historic building in downtown Chatham were nothing more than that – rumours. Social media posts began to swirl earlier this week, claiming the Taylor Williamson block on King Street West was going to be torn down to make room for more parking for the Boardwalk on the Thames apartments. Municipal officials say anyone demolishing a building of that type would require a permit, and so far, the building department had not received any such applications. 99.1 News reached out to the Everlast Group to confirm the rumours, the only reply from Leasing Agent Lynn O’Brien was “That is not correct.” ....
CHATHAM, ONT. A decade after its initial approval, The Boardwalk On The Thames apartment building in downtown Chatham will have its first tenants on March 1st. The multi-million dollar development isn’t complete, but is close, according to Everlast Group Ltd. owner, Victor Boutin. “Yes, it’s about time!” Boutin tells CTV News, “It’s been a really tough road and a tough journey, but we hang to it and we did it.” Boutin says 44 of the 88 units in the 8 floor building are essentially complete.
