Now, there is an expanded opportunity to sign up in Pennsylvania to assist anyone who has lost their job or who has been uninsured.  The state-based health insurance marketplace Pennie is opening a new enrollment period that will extend through May 15th for anyone adversely impacted by the pandemic. Anyone who signs up will have their coverage begin at the first of the following month, so state leaders urge everyone who needs insurance to sign up as quickly as possible.

Pennsylvania s state-operated health insurance marketplace is reopening for a special enrollment period to give people impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic more time to get coverage.The state said anyone is eligible to enroll in coverage through Pennie from Feb. 15 through May 15.Uninsured Pennsylvanians or those who have lost their job-based coverage are encouraged to go online to pennie.com explore their options. People can also call 1-844-844-8040.A Pennie spokesperson said total enrollment was nearly 338,000 by the end of the marketplace’s inaugural open enrollment. More than 75,000 new customers enrolled, an increase of 9.7%.“Pennie is first and foremost here for all of those in Pennsylvania who need health coverage. We are happy to see our customer base grow and proud to serve hundreds of thousands of individuals and families across the Commonwealth,” Pennie Executive Director Zachary W.
