i think it s extremely unlikely based on at least the photograph. and it s difficult to make conclusive determinations based on that photograph, but i would guess based on the kind of weapons that these folks have in the sinai, they re more likely to actually have direct access to military-grade explosives. they could take a mortar shell, they could take an ied and simply take some of the explosives out of it and repurpose it. obviously, this must have been a very powerful explosive, because a small amount inside of a coke can was enough to cause explosive decompression on board the plane, and i am not sure this person knew exactly where that coke can would be placed. so, again, just based on what we know about isis in the sinai, more likely that this was scraped together from some sort of military-grade explosive. i don t think they really had the time, luxury, or they even need to be producing tatp in the sinai. this is a real war out there. these guys have real military-grade weap ....
