The American Home Furnishings Alliance has extended the application deadline for its 2021 academic scholarships to
Friday, February 26.
The deadline previously was January 31.
AHFA’s Solution Partners Scholarship Fund presents up to 12 $2,500 scholarships each year. In extending the deadline this week, the Alliance took into account mail delays, remote learning and other obstacles students have faced related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Students have encountered so many challenges over the 2020-2021 school year. A little extra time to complete the 2021 scholarship application is certainly warranted,” said Mary O’Keeffe, executive director of AHFA’s Solution Partners division.
Eligible scholarship applicants should be 21 years of age or younger and enrolled in or planning to enroll in a four-year college or university, a community college or a vocational or te ....

Budget extends `Ease of Doing Business' to NRIs

Economy > Government
08 February 2021
Union Budget 2021-22 has extended `Ease of Doing Business’ benefits to its citizens living abroad by allowing them to set up one person companies (OPCs) in their home country and easing tax burden on repatriated money by allowing tax-free status to 182 days of stay in India from the earlier 120 days.
Until now, the facility of setting up one person company was available only for those citizens living in India.
The concession is expected to benefit a large number of Indians living in the Gulf, which has the highest number of non-resident Indians (NRIs).
This will allow Indians currently residing in the Gulf countries to better plan their post-NRI days once their overseas work permits or contracts end and they have to leave for home. ....

SEATTLE, Feb. 5, 2021 /PRNewswire/  The latest COVID-19 forecasts from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington School of Medicine predict more than 3.5 million deaths globally by June 1.
The United States is expected to see a death toll of 631,000 by June 1. Increasing mask use to 95% in the United States could save 44,000 lives between now and June 1.
There are serious concerns that with the spread of new COVID-19 variants, achieving herd immunity necessary to end the pandemic may be difficult if not impossible, said Dr. Christopher Murray, IHME director. We may be able to bring COVID-19 under control if we continue to focus on the strategies that can keep transmission low – avoiding gatherings, wearing masks, and other measures – while working to get as many people vaccinated as pos ....
