The world s fastest pace of spreading infections and the highest daily increase in coronavirus cases are pushing India further into a deepening and deadly healthcare crisis.
While India is massive it s the world s second-most populous country with nearly 1.4 billion people its size also presents extraordinary challenges to fighting Covid-19.
Some 2.7 million vaccine doses are given daily, but that s still less than 10 per cent of its people who ve gotten their first shot. Overall, India has confirmed 15.9 million cases of infection, the second-highest after the United States, and 184,657 deaths. ....

LAHORE: Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam can become the fastest and eleventh player overall to score 2000 T20I runs when his side takes on Zimbabwe in the three-match T20I series commencing from April 21 at the Harare Sports Club.
Babar, who last week was named number-one ranked player in the ICC ODI Rankings, needs 60 more runs to break India’s Virat Kohli record of fastest to 2000 T20I runs, which the Indian captain achieved in 56 innings.
Babar who has scored 1940 runs at 48.50 in 49 innings, will be eyeing to achieve the feat in the first T20I against Zimbabwe on Wednesday (today). ....

UK House Price Growth Fastest Since 2014
LONDON (dpa-AFX) - UK house prices increased at the fastest pace in more than six years in February as the pandemic has forced buyers to reassess their housing preferences, the Office for National Statistics reported Wednesday.
Average house prices grew 8.6 percent year-on-year in February, faster than the 8 percent increase in January. This was the fastest growth since October 2014.
The average house price was GBP 250,000 in February, which was GBP 20,000 higher than in February 2020.
On a seasonally adjusted basis, house prices increased 0.5 percent on month, following a rise of 0.8 percent in the previous month.
