Giving up 14. but we re doing everything possible to get to that 216. and that i don t der i thi when you objectively look at what was undertaken, no question every single thing that has been done has been done to maximize the vote count on this. to be very, very clear. this has been addressed a few times but i want to get a clearance. you talked a lot about how this is the chance, this is the opportunity for public to make good on campaign promises. i asked the president a couple days ago, will you keep pushing if this fails today? he said, we ll have to wait and see what happens. are you saying right now that there will be no future attempts to comply with that campaign promise if today s attempt fails? i can t say there will never be. i m not going to be fatalistic. we have a vote at 3:30. the president made clear, this is the train that leaves the station. this is our opportunity. he has a lot left on the agenda ....

The trump administration. thread that needle supporting the resolution that obama did not block but also criticizing the kerry remarks that trump and netanyahu found so objectionable. michael, i would love to hear your thoughts. i think ron summed it up well. the bottom line is the israelis and palestinians aren t interested in making peace with each other right now so on some level the rest of us whatever we say is not making that much difference. you know, i actually agree with most of what secretary kerry said in his speech, but i wasn t persuaded the timing or the tactics were all that useful, but on the other hand, i can t blame him either. i m not sure it s going to matter that much in the end what the british prime minister or the american president says in a situation where the palestinians can t act as a single entity and the israelis don t seem interested in making peace at the moment. i m a little fatalistic about this issue i m afraid. let s hope for better things in ....

The united states was trying to get out. but that s not a permanent solution. and i just don t i don t see it. michele, what do you say to that fatalism? well, it s hard to be optimistic about iraq, but i am not quite as fatalistic. the question is whether this recent set of protests and this moment, with the support of the religious leader creates an opportunity for him to push those reforms through and give the sunnis the prospect of a different future in iraq. that is the only way that they will stand up and fight, that plus the assurances from the united states that we ll be behind them. but absent that, i agree. you re not going to see much progress. in any event, i think everyone agrees this is the crucial issue, to see whether these reforms work and whether the sunnis can be brought back into the fold. thank you both very much. next on gps, you have heard of the red planet, you all know about the red sea, but i bet you are not familiar with a nation called the red do ....

If you just take the prospect of what happens next, what is the iraqi government doing militarily to push isis back, they want to go into ramadi, which is now held by isis or fallujah or mosul. what will they go in with? they ll go in with the iraqi army which is basically a collection of shiite militias. that s what it is. that s seen as an occupying army. that s not a prescription for reintegration. again, we can cobble together a bunch of sunni tribes and put them on the payroll, and that s basically what that helped turn the war back in 2008 when the united states was trying to get out. but that s not a permanent solution. and i just don t i don t see it. michele, what do you say to that fatalism? well, it s hard to be optimistic about iraq, but i am not quite as fatalistic. the question is whether this recent set of protests and this moment, with the support of the ....

Major interview when he gets back home. question one, in my life i inherited certain things from each of my parents. what did you inherit from yours? from my father, i inherited my pro-labor, democratic party beliefs. i am politically my father s child, and emotionally more my mother s. my mother supported me as if i was the local sports team. but she was fatalistic, she was permanently scarred by the depression and constantly predicted she would end up in the county poor home. my parents so strongly encouraged my school work. we even took a third paper at home, the chicago daily news for me to read. when i stood in the kitchen door ....
