New Delhi, Dec 28 : The statue of late Arun Jaitley was unveiled at the Ferozeshah Kotla grounds on Monday by Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister. This December 28 marked the 68th birth anniversary of Jaitley, who was the president of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) for 14 years from 1999 to 2013.
His son Rohan Jaitley is now heading the body.
The six-foot tall statue has cost around Rs 15 lakh and weighs around 800 kg. The veil that will cover the statue costs Rs 1.5 lakh.

Made by noted sculptor Ram Sutar — the 96-year-old man behind the “Statue of Unity” depicting Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Gujarat — the statue is the first for any politician-cum-sports administrator at a sporting facility in recent time

New Delhi, Dec 28: A controversial build-up notwithstanding, the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) on Monday unveiled the statue of its former president Arun Jaitley at its premises in the memory of the late administrator and political figure.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah unveiled Jaitley's life-size statue, prepared by 96-year-old renowned sculptor Ram Sutar, the man behind the making of the iconic Statue of Unity in Gujarat.
Former India cricketer Bishen Singh Bedi had severely criticised the DDCA for choosing to install the statue of an administrator instead of an inspirational cricketer and even demanded that his name be removed from one the stands at the Feroze Shah Kotla ground.

Former India cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi had severely criticised the DDCA for choosing to install the statue of an administrator instead of an inspirational cricketer and even demanded that his name be removed from one of the stands at the Feroze Shah Kotla ground.
BCCI President and former India captain Sourav Ganguly, India opener Shikhar Dhawan, ex India opener Gautam Gambhir, who is also a BJP MP from Delhi, BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla and Union Minister Hardeep Puri attended the unveiling ceremony along with a number of DDCA officials.
"Arun was like an elder brother to me. He was known for his sportsmanship spirit in the political circle. He remained aggressive in his speeches but never lowered the dignity of the Parliament," Shah said in his tribute to Jaitley, who remained DDCA President for 13 years.

New Delhi, Dec 27 (IANS): A six-foot tall bronze statue of late Arun Jaitley that is to be installed inside the Arun Jaitley Stadium at the Feroz Shah Kotla grounds here on his 68th birth anniversary on December 28 has come at a cost of around Rs 15 lakh and weighs around 800 kg. The veil that will cover the statue has cost Rs 1.5 lakh, said sources.
Jaitley was the president of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) for 14 years from 1999 to 2013, and now his son Rohan Jaitley is heading the body.

Former India cricket captain Sourav Ganguly met West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Sunday fuelling speculation about his possible plunge into politics yet again.
The meeting which took place at Raj Bhawan in Kolkata was termed as a mere “courtesy call” by the BCCI president. While Sourav Ganguly avoided questions by reporters, Governor Dhankhar claimed that “varied issues” were discussed during the meeting.
