A Bar of Chocolate's Contribution To WWII
In 1937, the Army approached Hershey's corporation and asked them to produce an emergency ration for the troops made of chocolate. One of the Army specifications was that it should not taste too good. The result was the D Ration. Hershey's would go on to make three billion of these "Don't taste very good" chocolate bars for allied troops.
