CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A crack formed in one of the support pillars for the Fury 325 roller coaster at Carowinds in North Carolina. The ride has been closed pending repairs.
Carowinds roller coasters, including the Fury 325, have had a history of problems, which have put riders and the people who work on them at risk.
The popular Fury 325 roller coaster is closed indefinitely while the safety review takes place.
"I personally watched my tears fall from the sky," one rider said. "It was terrifying."
Carowinds park officials said at no time were riders in danger as crews quickly responded.
