China expects ASEAN leaders special meeting to be conducive to Myanmar situation: Chinese FM

BEIJING - Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Thursday exchanged views on the Myanmar situation in telephone conversations with Don Pramudwinai, Thai deputy prime minister and foreign minister, and Erywan bin Pehin Yusof, second minister of foreign affairs of Brunei, the rotating chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Noting that the forthcoming special meeting of ASEAN leaders is timely and important, Wang said the Chinese side expects the meeting to play a constructive role in de-escalating the Myanmar situation, send out positive messages and be conducive in three respects: ....

Germany requests five P-8As - Air Warfare


FMS of five P-8As to Germany has been approved by the US State Department.
The US State Department has approved a potential $1.77 billion FMS of Boeing P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft (MPA) and related equipment to Germany.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) on 12 March delivered the required certification notifying Congress of the deal.
‘The proposed sale will improve Germany’s capability to meet current and future threats by providing critical capabilities to coalition maritime operations,’ the DSCA noted.
Germany is requesting five Poseidon aircraft plus nine Multifunctional Distribution System Joint Tactical Radio Systems 5, as well as commercial engines; EO and IR sensors; radar; electronic support measures; missile warning sensors; navigation systems (including GPS and inertial navigation); spare parts; training; software support; and engineering and logistics technical assistance. ....

US Army orders more air-to-ground missiles - Air Warfare


UK named as one of the recipients in latest US Army missile contract modification for Lockheed Martin.
US Army Contracting Command has issued a $201.75 million contract modification for Lockheed Martin to provide what the DoD on 11 March called ‘Joint Air-to-Ground Munitions’.
These will be provided to the DoD (including the US Army) and the UK under the FMS programme.
Work will be performed in Orlando, Florida, with an estimated completion date of 31 December 2023.
While the DoD did not identify the type or types of munitions to be provided under the latest modification, previous modifications to the same contract specifically referred to the AGM-114 Hellfire air-to-surface missile (pictured). ....

WASHINGTON: The head of the Indo-Pacific command believes China might try to annex Taiwan “in this decade, in fact within the next six years,” as part of its massive military buildup in the region. 
Adm. Phil Davidson told the Senate Armed Services Committee that China is “accelerating their ambitions to supplant the United States and our leadership role in the rules-based international order,” which they’ve long said that they want to do by 2050. “I’m worried about them moving that target closer. Taiwan is clearly one of their ambitions before that, and I think the threat is manifest during this decade, in the next six years.” ....
