Patriarchy, a modern-day tower of Babel, continues to cast a tall shadow over the church. Under this shadow, gender relations conform to the curse of sin rather than to the cross; to hierarchical patterns of authority and submission rather than to the mutual submission that Paul advocates; and to the kingdom of man, rather than to the kingdom of God, as we repeat the ancient idolatry of Noah’s children – under the pretense of godliness. Feminism meets Christianity at the cross of Jesus, who undoes the results of the Fall, including patriarchy.
