The New Miami Fire Department said firefighter Dustin "Dusty" Cook was involved in a head-on crash in August 2020. As a result of the crash, Cook underwent surgery to remove his spleen and fix his broken legs, and he was briefly placed on a ventilator. Cook was released from Fort Hamilton Hospital in September.

Aerial Katelynn Brazzell is charged with reckless homicide in the death of 16-year-old Bennie Shaun Boggs Jr., police said. Brazzell is accused of shooting Boggs at about 1:20 a.m. near Cereal and Hunter Avenues, according to police.
