We have a Warco WM180. It was supplied with some additional recommended parts to get us up and running, one of which was a Keyless Drill Chuck.I went to test fit it tonight but am a little confused The only way I can see to fit the Drill Chuck is to fit it in the TailStock using one of the two Dead Centres. The Lathe comes with 2 (2MT & 3MT), both of these appear to spin in the TailStock and the Drill Chuck surely needs to be held securely? The other is a 2MT Arbour B16, I cannot remember what that was to be used for, but I tried it on the Drill Chuck, whilst it fits it still spins.
@Dave S - "Stanley 702" It's clearly designed for only wood work because it is made from aluminium. Unfortuntately I will be doing all manner or materials and the aluminium will get battered. I was once on a Norwegian caving holiday that included a week in a remote village on the side of Tysfjord, more than 100 miles N of the Arctic Circle. The village had not even a rough track to it, but was served by a daily ferry. Just to put minds at rest. I have indeed asked a similar question some time ago, so I need to explain why I am here again. At the moment, I am running Linux Mint v.18.1 on a 13 year old laptop with all sorts of peripheral devices plugged into the various ports. Start up speed is reasonable, although I suspect nowhere near the best. Running speed, other than when disk thrashing starts, is generally satisfactory. Unfortunately, Mint 18 reaches end of life in April 2021, and my suspicion is that the latest version, Mint 20.1, is likely to reduce start up speed to a crawl. This is because I also ...
