On Jan. 28, 2021 at approximately 5:25 a.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 3200 block of East 7th Street, which lead to a male adult victim being critically injured. Through an extensive investigation, Robbery Detectives determined a male adult suspect was responsible for a series of incidents in the early morning hours of Jan. 28, 2021, including the following: At approximately 3:30 a.m., detectives believe the suspect attempted a commercial burglary at a business in the 700 block of Redondo Avenue. The suspect was not successful and fled on foot prior to officers’ arrival. No injuries were reported. At approximately 3:40 a.m., officers responded to the area of 7th Street and Redondo Avenue regarding an attempted carjacking that had just occurred. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim who stated he was pumping gas when a male adult suspect approached him, brandished a firearm, and demanded his vehicle. - ADVERTISEMENT - The suspect, identified as Frank Porras, allegedly began a crime spree around 3:30 a.m. on Thursday when he attempted to burglarize a business in the 700 block of Redondo Avenue and ran before officers arrived, the Long Beach Police Department said in a statement today. About 10 minutes later, police were called to a gas station at Seventh Street and Redondo Avenue for an attempted carjacking in which a victim said he had been pumping gas when a man approached him, pulled out a gun and demanded his vehicle before fleeing on foot. Police were then called at about 5:25 a.m. for reports of a gas station clerk who had been shot in the upper torso. The man was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition, police said. ....
