This year 41% of all Black sophomores at Oak Park and River Forest High School are taking an Honors or Advanced Placement course. That compares to 36 percent of Black sophomores at OPRF one year ago. The Oak Park and River Forest High School Board of Education is poised to hire Gilbane Inc. to manage the estimated $102 million Project 2 construction project that will tear down and rebuild the school’s southeast corner and include the construction of a new 10-lane swimming pool.  Construction work on Project 2 is expected to begin next summer.  Gilbane is a large, family and privately owned construction company.  Like OPRF, it has been around for more than a century.

The Oak Park-River Forest School District 200 board approved a $102 million capital project for OPRF, the only school in the district, that is scheduled to start next summer.

Oak Park and River Forest High School senior Reese Garland has had a tremendous high school athletic career, competing in volleyball, basketball and track and field.

Three new members of the school board at Oak Park and River Forest High School  were sworn in last week. Tim Brandhorst, Graham Brisben and Jonathan Livingston took their nearly 5-minute-long oath of office on May 11 as the school board bid adieu to Gina Harris, Ralph Martire and Sara Dixon Spivy.
