Gabby Capone, daughter of Michele and Fred Capone, recently had her short story “The Lobster” published in Cleaver Magazine, Philadelphia’s International Literary Publication.  Cleaver Magazine showcases art and literary work from both established and up and coming artists, writers, and poets.  Gabby has also been recognized as a Cleaver Emerging Artist. Her tale is about a lobster that shows up unexpectedly at her doorstep. It was one of 3,000 submissions this year, with only 7 percent accepted for publication. The Everett City Council met on Monday night and approved a plan to move their meetings to the Everett High School Library while their Chambers are being updated for better online capabilities, while at the same time approving a new Council rule that sets a code of decorum for remote online meetings. The Council informally agreed to an offer from School Committee Chair Frank Parker and Supt. City officials told the City Council on Monday they are having a hard time filling critical positions in the administration, including the Election Commissioner, Diversity Director and the Planning and Development Director, among others. To that end they told the Council they would be hiring an outside job recruiter to try to lure candidates to these City positions, some of which have been vacant for some time. The City Council voted to enroll a Linkage Fee ordinance for residential and commercial properties after many years of discussion – and some rather intense negotiations over the last two weeks. The Council voted 10-1 Monday night to enroll the Linkage Fee ordinance, with Councilor Gerly Adrien voting against. Linkage Fees are a surcharge on, in this case, commercial and residential development, and for Everett, the money collected would only be able to go to funding affordable housing projects.
