Broadway star and three-time Tony Award winner Chita Rivera achieved her diva-dom through sheer hard work, humility and humanity.
“I am raising a glass to this remarkable woman and friend. Chita, amiga, Salud!” Moreno said in a statement—as others, including Bernadette Peters and Ariana DeBose, paid tribute.
Chita Rivera's death was announced by her daughter, Lisa Mordente, who said she died in New York after a brief illness.
