The proposed mandated $15 minimum wage sounds great on the surface. It may be great for businesses and communities that can afford it.
"Can afford" it is the key. The proponents of this should do a little homework and look into the Buying Power Index, or BPI.
From a retail standpoint, BPI determines the ability of a community to financially support being a new market for products or services. Based on the BPI, I would imagine that many areas could support more than a $15 minimum wage but many could not even support $15.
In my opinion, mandates are based on a level playing field, and we are from that.
