âThe Michigan PFAS Action Response Team (MPART) will provide an update on the investigation into the former Falk Road landfill in Holly Township on Monday, May 10. âRepresentatives from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) will host the virtual community meeting at 6 p.m. âThe meeting is planned as an online event, rather than an in-person meeting, to comply with current state measures designed to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus. As Santa Claus has many stops to make this holiday season, so does the KCII Big Red Radio for the 18th annual Caring Christmas Food Drive. KCII will be broadcasting live from 2-4 p.m. Monday at Freeman Foods in Wellman, where people can drop off monetary and food donations to go to that community’s food pantry. The public can also donate hands free by scanning the QR code table topper at the food drive’s participating businesses, or by clicking the “Big Red Button” at kciiradio.com. Those who donate to the drive will automatically be entered into the $1,000 Caring Christmas Giveaway, which will draw a winner in mid-January. The Wellman Rotary Club is sponsoring a food drive to benefit the Wellman Food Pantry. Donations are being accepted through December 23rd at Freeman Foods in Wellman. City Administrator and Rotary Club member Kelly Litwiller says they put the food drive together to help the food pantry while keeping club members safe amid CODIV-19 concerns, “Normally rotary takes the lead on ringing the bell outside Freeman Foods and then all the monetary donations we get we give them, donate them to the food pantry. So we wanted to make things easier for our members of rotary not to have to risk themselves healthwise being out in the community but still feel they were part of doing something (for the community.”
