The Public Health Agency of Canada says at least 26 lab-confirmed cases of salmonella have been reported in five provinces possibly related to a brand of cantaloupe.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is currently conducting an investigation regarding recalled grocery items for reasons including listeria contamination, salmonella contamination, and undeclared ingredients.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is recalling several cantaloupe brands sold across Canada due to salmonella. The recall regarding the first case was originally triggered on November 11, 2023, and two other recalls have been issued since. The cantaloupe brands include those sold at Save on Foods, the Urban Fare and Malachite brands as well as Groupe Tomapure, Fresh Start Foods and Fruit Pure brands. The Canadian Inspection Food Agency is currently working on ensuring that the affected food products are being properly removed from the marketplace.
