Telefonica mulls Brazilian fibre unit with CDPQ

Orange Poland launches Wi-Fi 6 FTTH offer with SoftAtHome

Orange Poland’s new Funbox 6 home gateway has been powered by SoftAtHome’s Wifi'ON and Connect'ON solutions.
The Wi-Fi 6 fibre to the home solution provides what Orange Poland says is the fastest end-to-end Wi-Fi in the country with over 1 Gbps downstream and 300 Mbps upstream. The hardware designed by Sagemcom uses recycled plastic and will enable lower power consumption with optimised control of the seven antennas to provide enhanced coverage. Features provided by SoftAtHome include parental control, guest Wi-Fi, HD telephony over DECT and key Quality of Service optimisations.
Orange Poland says the Funbox 6 offers an improved customer experience thanks to a smarter Wi-Fi network in the home. Wifi'ON is already present on Orange Poland repeaters. The combination of algorithms on both the gateway and repeaters delivers the best connection to the right access point and the right Wi-Fi channel, throughout the home. SoftAtHome's Wifi'ON can also bring unique advantages by distributing the solution's AI between home LAN components and cloud-based intelligence.

Jio posts net profit of Rs 3,489 crore in Q3 2020

KOLKATA: Reliance Industry Limited’s (RIL) subsidiary Jio Platforms has posted net profit of Rs 3,489 crore. Its net profit grew 15.5 per cent quarter-on-quarter as its profit was Rs 3,020 crore in the last quarter.
The average revenue per user (ARPU) also grew during the quarter reaching to Rs 151 per subscriber per month compared to Rs 145 per subscriber per month in the September quarter Its consolidated EBITDA grew by 6.4 per cent quarter-on-quarter to Rs 8,483 crore and EBITDA margin of 43.6 per cent up from 43.1 per cent thanks to growing revenue and operating leverage.

Airband wins £4.5MN contract to roll out full-fibre broadband across Cheshire

Cheshire Council has awarded Airband a contract to roll out gigabit-capable, full-fibre broadband connectivity to over 4,000 properties across rural or hard-to-reach areas of the county.
Funded by the UK government’s Connecting Cheshire initiative, which includes Warrington Borough Council, Cheshire East Council, Cheshire West and Chester and Halton Borough Council, the £4.5 million project will start in early 2021 and is expected to last until March 2023.

“We are excited to have won this contract," commented Airband founder and director Redmond Peel. "Our focus has always been on expanding and simplifying digital access for rural communities. With access to high-quality broadband fast becoming a human right, we can’t wait to get started building the network that will give residents of rural and hard-to-reach areas of Cheshire the connectivity they deserve.”

In a move that will see one of the longest-serving and most successful leaders of a major British company vacating their position, Comcast-owned UK communications firm Sky has announced that Jeremy Darroch has decided to step down as Group CEO of Sky after 13 years leading the company.
Darroch has been CEO of Sky since 2007, and group chief financial officer before that since 2004. During that time, he has led the transformation of the company into Europe’s largest multi-platform communications and entertainment operator, with nearly 24 million customers.
