Budget session of Uttarakhand assembly to begin on Feb 26

The budget session of the Uttarakhand assembly will be from February 26, according to a notification issued on Tuesday. The session will start with the governor's address and the state's annual budget is likely to be laid on the second day of the session on February 27, it stated.

Uttarakhand witnessed the oath-taking ceremony of its 10th Chief Minister on 10 March (Thursday). Member of Parliament from Pauri Garhwal, Tirath Singh Rawat was administered the oath of office by Governor Baby Rani Maurya as the new Chief Minister replacing Trivendra Singh Rawat.
Sections of the media made speculations during the political turmoil that lasted five long days, amid the budget session in Gairsain, regarding the new chief minister.

New Delhi: The suspense surrounding the survival of Trivendra Singh Rawat as chief minister of Uttarakhand continued on Monday, March 8, as Bharatiya Janata Party leaders held discussions with him and several disgruntled party legislators and ministers in Delhi.
While some believe that his ouster is now a certainty, the biggest factor that may ultimately tilt the scales in Rawat’s favour is that the assembly elections in the state are now less than a year away.

The BJP is moving one step closer to fulfilling its vision on Gairsain through administration changes.
The declaration of Gairsain as the third commissionerate has seen the Congress and the AAP opposing the move.
Last week, the Trivendra Singh Rawat-led government in Uttarakhand made an announcement. Gairsain was declared a new administrative division of the state, a third commissionerate.
A commissioner and a DIG will be deployed in Gairsain.
The ‘surprise’ announcement (as how a section of the media sees it) has come after Garsain was declared as Uttarakhand's summer capital last year. The mandal is an assimilation of two districts each from Garhwal mandal and Kumaon mandal. These are: Almora and Bageshwar (in Kumaon) and Rudrapyarag and Chamoli (in Garhwal). Gairsain, the town, would now be the third administrative division, a third commissionerate.

Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], March 7 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Ajay Bhatt on Sunday urged Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat to review the decision of including Almora district in the newly created Gairsain administrative division.
This comes days after the Chief Minister declared the Gairsain town in Chamoli district as a new administrative division of the state.
The government announced that the Gairsain division would be comprised of four hill districts, including Almora and Bageshwar (both in Kumaon region) and Rudrapyarag and Chamoli (in Garhwal region).
