BEER and bicycles are, historically, not the best of companions. A tipsy trip on two wheels is unlikely to end well and any inebriated cyclist foolish enough to venture on to the open road will, in fact, be breaking the law. Indeed, drunk riders caught on public highways can be fined up to £2,500, with the act categorised as a criminal offence under Section 30 of the Road Traffic Act 1988.
