NEW DELHI: India´s total Covid-19 caseload neared 20 million Monday, in stark contrast to gradual reopenings in Europe and other wealthier parts of the world where rapid vaccination programmes have helped keep new cases down.Europe is looking at easing travel restrictions on foreign tourists as early as next month, if they are fully vaccinated or come from a country with Covid under control, officials said on Monday.
The European Commission is recommending EU member states agree to restart the bloc´s vital tourist industry in time for the European summer after a wipe-out season last year when travel plummeted worldwide. ....

Thousands of people attended the first day of the Wuhan Strawberry Music Festival on Saturday.
In warm conditions on the first day of a five-day May Day national holiday revelers in the central Chinese city danced, bounced and screamed with delight as some of their favorite acts took the stage.
The festival was making a return in Wuhan after it was forced to be online only last year due to COVID-19 restrictions.
A representative for the organisers told Reuters that numbers were being restricted this year, adding that around 11,000 people were there on Saturday. Barriers were set up in front of each stage and security personnel restricted numbers in those areas. Some spectators wore masks, but many did not. ....

Retail major Walmart takes initiative to donate nearly 20 oxygen-generating plants and 20 cryogenic containers for oxygen storage and transportation to India. Alongside, over 3,000 oxygen concentrators and 500 oxygen cylinders for distributing oxygen therapy to patients at home or in hospital.
These are being found across the globe and would be provided to hospitals and NGOs in India for delivery as the country gasps for oxygen amid the deadly second Covid wave.
Walmart, the Walmart Foundation, Flipkart and PhonePe, along with Walmart s Global Technology and Sourcing hubs, are associating to solve the oxygen shortages issue.
