Two Louisiana scholars won the MacArthur Fellowship
The 20 winners of this year’s MacArthur Fellowships - often called the “genius grant” - have been announced. Each award carries a $800,000 stipend, paid over five years.
Cormac McCarthy, the Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist known for his powerful prose and captivating stories set in the southern Appalachians and desert Southwest, has passed away at the age of 89.
The MacArthur grants were awarded to 25 people including Paul Chan, Sky Hopinka, Tavares Strachan, Martha Gonzalez, and Amanda Williams.
