New regional Twitter campaign highlights platform's safety measures

DUBAI: This month, Twitter MENA launched a new Arabic hashtag that translates as #TwitterSafetyCampaign as part of its activities to mark Safer Internet Day on Feb. 8. 7amleh the Arab Center for the Advancement of Social Media concluded its 5th Palestine Digital Activism Forum today, with broad global, international, regional, and local participation. More than 4500 people registered for the forum, and more than 1500 attended via the Hopin platform, which hosted the forum, while 150,000 more tuned in via social media platforms.
The forum hosted 85 speakers and trainers from all over the world and organized 35 different virtual events. This year’s forum was able to transcend all barriers and borders and brought together Palestinians who live in Palestine, the diaspora, and refugee camps across the world. ....

Marathi singer Pranjali Newaskar who has recorded many Kashmiri songs
Marathi singer, Pranjali Newaskar has lent her voice to the popular Kashmiri prayer and lyrics by Mahjoor. So far, she has sung Sahibo and Haa Gulo. “I liked this concept of singers from two different states singing songs such as Shamima Akhtar in Marathi and I would sing in Kashmiri. This is a good medium to bring people from two different States together. It will contribute to national integration,” Newaskar was quoted saying. “First of all, I listened to the songs repeatedly and wrote them down in Devnagari. Then I recorded the songs in my voice and sent them to native Kashmiris in Pune to suggest corrections such as proper pronunciations. Later, I started learning the basics of the language. Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir Tuesday grilled the regional head of social media platform, Twitter, for silencing voices of thousands of Kashmiri and Pakistani activists projecting the plight of people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir(IIOJK).
