United Way of Kennebec Valley recently announced that it helped 57,534 people and raised $1,665,005 in the 2020 campaign. This growth represents a 3% increase in donations from 2019 and the most funds ever raised in support of UWKV’s 50 partner programs. Campaign co-chairman and -woman Chris and Sarah Voynik shared this news at UWKV’s Campaign Celebration, which attracted 87 people virtually on Jan. 27, according to a news release from Augusta-based United Way.
Acknowledging the fact that this has been one of the hardest years the Kennebec Valley has ever faced, the Voyniks asked the community in September to simply give if they had the means to do so and announced a goal of helping 56,000 people. Together, supporters exceeded that goal through the combined efforts of the annual fundraising camp
Oakland-based accounting firm One River CPAs has acquired an Augusta firm, Gibson LeClair LLC, and is looking to continue growth.
One River Director Jamie Boulette wouldn’t disclose terms of the deal Tuesday, but told Mainebiz the firm has retained all 11 members of Gibson LeClair, including principals Jeanne Gibson and Steve LeClair. Both now serve as directors, and One River now has a staff of 31.
One River had 2019 revenues of $2.9 million, ranking the firm No. 11 in the state, according to the 2021 Mainebiz Book of Lists. Boulette projects the annual revenues of the combined firm to be about $4 million, which could move it up a few notches.
