Broadway Stages closes on $30M Greenpoint space

Broadway Stages, the city’s largest film and TV studio company, plans to bring another soundstage to Brooklyn after purchasing a $30 million 111,000-square-foot lot this month.
The Greenpoint space at 332 Monitor St., which once belonged to ExxonMobil, joins Broadway Stages’ portfolio of nearly 40 studios across the boroughs. TV shows including NBC’s
Blindspot and
Ocean’s 8. 
The firm, led by Chief Executive Gina Argento, took on a $15 million mortgage from Investors Bank to seal the deal, property records show.

In 2017 Broadway Stages became the proud owner of the Arthur Kill Correctional Facility, a 69-acre waterfront prison complex in Staten Island. The company won a deal from the state to take the property for $7 million after the prison stopped housing inmates in 2011. The deal was delayed by the state comptroller because of the company’s donations to Mayor Bill de Blasio, who was under investigation at the time.
