WALLYFORD Gala Queen Grace Harneman and Gala King Jamie Lawson had the honour of officially switching on the Christmas lights in the village last Friday evening. In keeping with Government guidance and restrictions, the ceremony took place at the Christmas tree next to the Wallyford Mining Memorial Stone at the St Clement’s housing estate. A floral tribute was laid at the mining memorial stone by Stuart Baxter, manager of Musselburgh Area Partnership, in remembrance of the 38 miners who lost their lives in Wallyford collieries from 1857 to 1924.
