Schenectady’s football team had just completed its “Fall II” season with a win over Saratoga Springs, and as his players ran off Larry Mulvaney Field, Patriots coach Carm DePoalo gave high school athletic director Steve Boynton a big bear hug to go with a big “thank you.”
 
Boynton, you see, has been the go-to guy over the last 14 months as Schenectady teams, coaches and athletic staff members have negotiated their way through the COVID-19 era that has included four competition seasons in the current school year. ....

Albert “Albie” Thomas Galpin of Gloversville, NY, passed away from advanced Alzheimer’s Disease on Friday, December 11, 2020.
Albie Galpin was born in Gloversville’s Nathan Littauer Hospital on March 20, 1943, to Elizabeth and Albert Galpin, the first of their four children. Albie grew up in the Galpin family home at 13 Gregory Street and was educated at Kingsboro Elementary, Estee Junior High, and graduated from Gloversville High School in the class of 1961, where he was twice a varsity letterman for the Gloversville Huskies football team and was voted outstanding player in 1960.
Albie loved enjoying life, especially anything athletic both as a participant and spectator. Throughout his childhood Albie would spend long days playing baseball and football with his friends at Gloversville’s Gregory Field. Post-high school, Albie remained an athlete throughout his life playing several years for the Glove Cities Colonials, the Adirondack Softball Leag ....
