Guyana's tax agency is taking Exxon Mobil Corp. to court.
The Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday dismissed all charges brought against Ramps Logistics Guyana Inc. by the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA).
The Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA), with Commissioner General, Godfrey Statia standing tall and ferocious, is fighting tooth and nail for Guyanese, so that they can get every dollar that honestly belongs to them. In an audit of US$1.67 billion, US$40 million may look small to some, but to poverty-stretched Guyanese, each dollar saved is another dollar going into their share of their oil profits. It may have been a negligible amount to IHS Markit (IHSM) in its rather questionable audit of those ExxonMobil expenses, but to cheated Guyanese, that US$40 million counts.
The ongoing audit of US$1.6B in expenses racked up for the Stabroek Block from 1999 to 2017 has found a number of areas for possible exploitation by oil companies.
A team comprising some 20 technical officers from the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) and the Natural Resources Ministry has been working behind the scenes to ensure the country’s first audit report on expenses in the Stabroek Block captures every unsound financial practice.
