Letters to the editor for Sunday, May 9: Celebrating library workers, COVID-19 and a win for the hearing impaired Register-Guard Say hey for library workers This year I am recognizing and appreciating the employees at the Eugene Pubic Library who worked hard to figure out a way to partially reopen the library and get books back in circulation. I am recognizing and appreciating the OSHA employees who were met with armed resistance at a Springfield restaurant this past winter when they were just trying to do their jobs in response to several complaints about the restaurant. I am grateful to the Lane County Public Health employees who designed such efficient drive-thru vaccination clinics in our community. ....
Letters to the editor for Tuesday, March 16: COVID-19 vaccine rollout and President Biden s immigration policy Register-Guard Rug keeps getting pulled out from under us Michael Buchta s experience (Letters, March 11) mirrors almost exactly my own, including the hopeful, hourly email checks. My wife and I are in our 80s, dutifully pre-registered for the vaccine and have now received two weekly invitations, by name, from Lane County Health to schedule our COVID-19 vaccination appointments. The latest episode occurred on last Tuesday afternoon when, literally as I watched, the invitation email for both of us arrived in my inbox. As fast as my arthritic fingers could move, I scanned down it and clicked on the link provided. Sure enough, after clicking the requested buttons, there was the dreaded, This week s vaccine doses have been scheduled . notice. ....
