Graham Infrastructure files notice of claim in Supreme Court of British Columbia
The City of Vancouver is trying to reassure the public that the Granville Street Bridge is safe, despite recently filing a lawsuit against a trio of contractors that suggests the opposite.
In a civil suit filed in B.C. Supreme Court, Vancouver claims rehabilitation work to extend the life of the Granville Bridge, which was built in 1954, was improperly done and led to corrosion and degradation.
The City of Vancouver is telling the public that the Granville Bridge "does not pose [a] safety risk to the public" despite the city filing a notice of civil claim Feb. 14 against companies hired to perform work on the 70-year-old structure.
The city alleges some of the recoating work was never done, with no caulking and penetrating sealer applied in all places it should have been.
