Prior to the first pitch, throngs of fans chanted, cheered and posed for photographs under Wrigley’s iconic marquee at the intersection of Clark and Addison streets. Four-time Grammy Award winner Mac Powell will appear at the Powerlight Fest at the Illinois State Fair Aug. 22. Powell is the former lead singer of the multi-platinum Christian rock group Third Day, which disbanded in 2018. John Childers, owner of Stokes Supermarket in New Albany, said, “We’ve been very busy.” Stokes was actually closed on Monday due to the severe winter weather conditions. Childers said he did not want his employees or customers to risk driving to the store in the bad weather.
