The Seminole Nation on Wednesday clarified its position on taxing oil and gas production on reservation land, saying that it was only seeking to tax activity on land under federal supervision. “As a sovereign nation predating the U.S. Constitution, the Seminole Nation has the inherent authority to levy severance taxes on nonmember oil and gas producers operating on the Seminole Nation’s trust and restricted lands,” Seminole Nation Chief Greg P.
