Wärtsilä Corporation has been contracted to install a 10MW battery energy storage system at a wind farm in Mexico, marking an expansion into the country for the energy solutions provider.
Eolica Coromuel Wind Farm, around 38km from the city of La Paz, is a 50MW wind energy project under construction by Eurus Energy America Corporation, a company in the Eurus Energy Group which operates wind and solar farms globally, owned by Japan’s Toyota Tsusho Corporation - part of the Toyota Group which includes the carmaker. ....

Wärtsilä's Energy Storage System will Boost Mexico's Wind Power | Off Grid Energy Independence

The technology group Wärtsilä has been contracted to provide a project-critical energy storage system for the 50 MW Eolica Coromuel, S. de R. L (ECO) Wind Farm in La Paz, Mexico. The Wärtsilä energy storage system is designed to deliver a power output of 10 MW for the operational life of the project. Wärtsilä is also providing a long-term service agreement, including maintenance, spare parts, repairs, remote monitoring and performance guarantees. The Wärtsilä solution will support ECO s ability to meet grid code requirements. The order was placed in November 2020. This contract in Mexico marks an expansion of Wärtsilä s smart storage technology to the region.ECO is owned by San Diego based Eurus Energy America Corporation, the majority owner of which is the Tokyo based global renewable energy company Toyota Tsusho Corporation. 27 January 2021: UK developer Eelpower partners up with infrastructure investor SUSI Partners
UK energy storage and renewables developer Eelpower has formed a joint venture (JV) with Switzerland-headquartered sustainable infrastructure investor SUSI Partners to construct and operate a pipeline of new-build battery storage assets in Britain.
The first of these will be a 50MW project at Dunsinane, near Dundee, Scotland, which is set to start construction in February. Additionally, SUSI purchased 40MW of the company’s existing storage assets as part of the JV, with Eelpower to continue to manage the assets. ....

Wärtsilä's to supply energy storage system to Shetland Islands

The technology group Wärtsilä will provide grid balancing services and reserve power to Scotland’s Shetland Islands with the supply of its advanced energy storage system. The system is being supplied to Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) Distribution, which belongs to the regulated businesses of SSE plc. The system will deliver 8 MW/6 MWh of power when operational. Wärtsilä will support the installation with a 10-year service agreement, which includes maintenance for the software and hardware system components, as well as 24/7 remote support and management. The order was booked by Wärtsilä in December.
The energy storage system will be installed at the Lerwick Power Station, operated by SSEN in Lerwick, the Islands’ capital. The power station is the main generator for the local grid and the Wärtsilä energy storage solution will provide spinning reserve capacity, while also facilitating further integration of wind power into the syst ....
