GROESBECK, TX â The Groesbeck community is still trying to come to terms with what happened to DPS Trooper Chad Walker, who was shot multiple times in the line of duty and later died.
One local nonprofit is working to protect law enforcement while on the job.
The Mutual Assistance Group, or MAG Inc., is built on helping first responders as well as military and veteran members in Limestone County, even assisting those in the area who have fallen on hard times. ....

Parler, a social network embraced by right-wing groups, lobbed a new lawsuit against Amazon in King County Superior Court, two weeks after Parler’s relaunch rendered moot its original accusation in federal court that Amazon had effectively killed its business.
The move, Amazon attorneys said in a filing Wednesday kicking the suit back to federal court, is “an extreme attempt to forum shop.” After a federal judge last month denied Parler’s request that she force Amazon to reconnect the social network to its cloud-computing services, Parler, Amazon contends, is seeking a new hearing before a new judge in “a transparent effort to evade this Court’s dim view of the merits of Parler’s claims. But Parler’s scheme is futile.” ....

GROESBECK, TX â More ice has covered Central Texas as the weekend gets started. This time in Groesbeck, which woke up Friday to a cold, hard mess.
So lights went out around seven o clock last night and it blew, said Katie Hahn.
The electricity blew when icy tree limbs took town power lines and transformers.
So the Hahn family went into survival mode to get through the ice storm with no power.
âStarted putting blankets over on the walls and in the windows to try to keep our house insulated,â she said. ....
