The U.S. Coast Guard said on Thursday that it has located one of the most famous shipwrecks, the U.S. Revenue Cutter Bear, after spending two decades looking for it.
The U.S. Revenue Cutter Bear served in two World Wars, and at one point was captained by the first Black man to command a U.S. government vessel.
At the time of the loss of Bear, it was already recognized as a historic ship," said Joe Hoyt, of the Office of National Marine Sanctuaries.
