Roger Wing sculpts in wood, stone, bronze, ice, sand and sometimes snow. He lives in Philadelphia, but since he started carving ice in 1997 he’s been in competitions around the globe, most recently in Beijing, China, last year where he took home medals in three of the four events he competed in a bronze, a silver and a gold. ....

Shaping Up, a statue by J. Seward Johnson Jr., debuts on Kings Highway

But that’s not surprising for a bronze statue in this case, an ultra-lifelike figure that’s frozen mid-stride on a downtown street corner.
The eye-catching artwork, called Shaping Up, was installed Tuesday morning on the red-brick sidewalk at Kings Highway and Tanner Street.
It’s the latest display by a local group devoted to bringing sculptures to the borough Haddonfield Outdoor Sculpture Trust, or HOST.
And it’s HOST’s fourth piece by the late J. Seward Johnson Jr., a sculptor whose work frequently resembles actual people dipped in bronze, then painted and preserved in an everyday pose. ....
